TEAM HISTORY
Team Cuisine (TC) is a diverse group of friends who gather together every summer for seven days to eat their way across the state of Iowa while cycling RAGBRAI. The premise of TC is simple: we like to eat well on RAGBRAI and have fun on the ride. And we do both.
TC is a Chicago-area based team but draws riders and crew from all over the country. We gather every summer to ride RAGBRAI and occasionally during the year for special events.
TC officially launched itself in 2004 and we started off with quite a bang! (And no, the grill did not explode!) We rode our first RAGBRAI as TC with a full complement of 25 riders with Chef Aaron and 3 support crew members.
In the fall of 2009, Chef Aaron stepped down due to expanding responsibilities with his growing family.
Chefs Kurt and Kim from the restaurant (the Devotay) in Iowa City took over the reins in 2010. After seeing how much fun the team was having on the road, Kurt and Kim converted to riders and handed the kitchen reins over to Dan (also from Devotay).
Our professional chefs head up and oversee the entire Team Cuisine kitchen operation. Over the years, the kitchen has seen talented assistant chefs including Beverly, Kate, Laura, Bob, Sean, and, most recently, Morgan and Beau.
Don and Emma, an incredible husband and wife team, manage the entire support truck operation, including the refrigeration/freezer challenges of 98+ degree Iowa heat! This crew is the backbone of the smooth running Team Cuisine camps as we make our way across Iowa.
TC is headed up by team captain Joe, supported by a group of 9 individuals (TOB, Liz, Tom T, Red, Art, Brendaa, Dave C., Matt S and Bill) who oversee the many facets of the production that is Team Cuisine.
We limit the number of riders to 25 each year and have many veterans like Doc (Walt), Carl, Jim, Baby Doc (Loren), Nancy, “Pair a Docs”(Chris and Mike), Pam, Sandy, and JaO. Over the years, we have added many riders including Kathleen, Mike, Amanda, Ashley, Brian, Rich & Cathy, Joe, Christine and Tom.
Team Cuisine is truly a team effort. Every team member helps in assembling TC and preparing for RAGBRAI and it shows. We take pride in executing RAGBRAI in style and having a blast at the same time.
